Curriculum
Starting with in September 2009, the Ministry to Children has made some changes to the curriculum and the way it's taught in order to meet the needs of children with a variety of learning styles through arts, music, quiet learning and physical games. We have group activities such as bulletin board art and making cards for residents in nursing homes.
We have seasonal activities and multi-week themes to help children understand their church, the Bible and their Anglican faith. At the beginning of each theme, we provide a take-home sheet with a summary of activities the children will be doing, questions to discuss and reinforcing activities to do at home. This will give multiple opportunities children who are not able to be with us every week to cover lessons and stories.
Nursery: Nursery services of crafts, games, stories, songs, play, and a healthy snack are available for children up to four years of age from the start of the service until Communion. Starting in September 2009, infants will be cared for in the Family Room, off the Sanctuary of the Ascension where worship services take place. Toddlers will use the Nursery, a freshly painted room off the Parish Hall. Parents/caregivers must pick up their children prior to the start of Communion.
Grade 8s & Up: Youth can join a discussion group on Sundays during church. Topics are value orientated using the book Inside Out as a guide. Laura has been hanging out with the teens for a while and they had their first "official" group in March 2010. Interested teens should join us in the parishhall during Sunday School time.
We also have:
